Basic SEO

An Overview Of What We Can Do For You..
First a very quick intro to SEO....
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a fairly complex subject.

It's certainly not rocket science though.

Most people could learn and apply it to their websites, the big problem of course, is the time that it takes to learn and do.

Below are some ideas on how to get Traffic to your site using SEO and a little introduction to our SEO services...

Basically there are three parts to organic SEO...

Picking The Right Keywords
On Page Optimisation.
Off Page Optimisation.

You don't have to go for the organic listings of course. You can get a lot of traffic using Pay Per Click. Problem is you have to pay for every click and that can seriously mount up if you don't know what you are doing. It's a fast way to get traffic though. Pay per click is best used side-by-side with a Search Engine Optimisation project.

Let's have a closer look.

Picking the right Keywords.

This is quite tricky and you HAVE to spend a bit of time with this. This is the most important part and it can make or break your SEO campaign.

Many people think that if they target a general keyword/keyphrase and manage to get a ranking in one of the big search engines then the money will come pouring in.

This is totally wrong.

You can spend a great deal of time trying to get ranked for a general term then you will find, that although, you may get lots of visitors, non of these visitors are actually buying anything.

Here's an example.

Let's say you had a digital product that you wanted to sell

... An Ebook about "Ill Health In Cats".

If you targeted the keyword "cats" and managed to get that high in the search engines you would think you could make a fairly decent amount of sales from your ebook.

Not true..

There are probably thousands and thousands of searches done every day for the word "cats" but what people are looking for are "pictures of cats", "funny pictures", "general information", "funny stories", etc.

These people are unlikely to buy your ebook!

Sure some of them might buy but not nearly the same amount of people that would buy if you had gone for the right keywords.

Those keywords you should have targeted are called the "long tail keywords" and are the ones people would type in the search engines when they want to buy something.

In this case the buyers would be people that are specifically searching for your products. ie people that are searching for something very targeted.... these people would be searching for "how to cure ticks in cats", "curing urine infections in cats", " constipation in cats", etc.

The people that search for these terms are much more likely to buy your book.

People on the Internet are much more educated these days and instead of using "generic terms" they use specific terms to find what they are looking for.

If you don't give them what they searched for when they arrive on your website - they just hit the back button and go to a new site.

So "long tail" keywords are VERY important when doing SEO.

When choosing them what you are actually trying to do is match the people to what you are selling.

So ALWAYS try and target keyphrases that are pretty near the end of the buying cycle.

Another example of this would be if you sold property in Spain.

If you targeted the keyphrase "Property in Spain" then sure you might get a few people interested in what you have to offer.

However, you would get a much better response with the keyphrase "buy property in Spain" these people are near the end of the buying cycle and are much more likely to buy your property.

On Page Optimisation.
Once you have got your keyword list you then have to integrate them into your page (s) on your website so that search engines can pick up on them.

Basically you should take no more than two keyphrases per page. It's actually better to try and just go for ONE keyphrase per page.
  • You try and get that keyphrase in the url ie www.yourdomain.com/yourkeyphrase.htm
  • You try to get the keyphrase in the meta title tag of your web page
  • You try to get they keyphrase in the H1 tag in your web page
  • You try to write the content in your body text and add your keyphrase with about 3-5% density throughout the text.
  • You rinse and repeat with each keyphrase making up a page for each one and adding it to your site.
Off Page Optimisation..

Now that you have picked the keyphrases and added them to your site you have to go out there and get as many links back to your pages as possible.

Inbound links are probably the single biggest thing you can do to get your site ranked high.

You don't want links on other sites that say Click here to go to http://www.yourdomain.com.

You want links that use the keyphrase in the anchor text on the linking partner sites eg. John Smith has a very good ebook on how to cure constipation in cats.

That way the search engines pick up on the keyphrase and because it is in the actual link text the search engines feel it is more important and thus rank it higher.

So where do you get all these links?

  • You can do reciprocal links with other sites - this is not so effective these days.
  • You can ask other site owners to link to you.
  • The articles on your site might be so good that people will naturally link to you.
  • You can write articles yourself and place them on sites like ezinearticles.
  • You can write blogs, hubpages, squidoo pages, youtube videos with keyphrase links pointing back to your site
  • You can add your site to directories like dmoz.org or yahoo.
  • You can use social networking sites like myspace, facebook and social networking bookmarking sites like DIGG to try and get links back.

So that's SEO in a nutshell...
As said, not rocket science, but one heck of a lot of work. If done right you sure can bring in a lot of money for your efforts.

It's really up to you if you want to do it all yourself or if you want to outsource it to an organisation like ours.

The great benefit of outsourcing to us is..

  • It takes a big workload off you
  • Our guys do this for a living. They keep up to date with the search engines and watch what is going on.
Sure it costs money to use our service.... You just have to weigh up what your own time costs versus the cost of outsourcing.

If you decide to choose our service..

Here is what we will do for you.

First it is very important to understand that we never use what is known as "Black Hat" techniques.

We are a responsible company and we want your business. We would never use techniques that could result in getting your site banned.

We always use the guidelines that are set out by the search engine companies to get your site ranked.

We want to have a long relationship with you and if we used "shady" tactics then we would not last very long.

That said, the very first thing we do is work with you to find the keywords/keyphrases that you think would make you the most money.

Once we find these keyphrases and you agree then we will proceed to optimise your site.

Keywords/phrases are the most important part.

You can either give us a list of what you think are your most important phrases and we can go with that or once you commit to our service you can ask us to do some research to find good phrases for you.

Depending on the keywords/phrases it might be necessary for us to access your website through ftp.

We will always tell you when we are going to do that though and let you know the parts of the site that we would be working on.

Every project is different but for the most part we would probably just be slotting in "landing pages" into your website.

We would tell you where these pages were and ask you not to touch them.

Sometimes we may need to access the existing pages and add some text to them... again we would give you warning abut this.

The main thing that we would do is off page optimization.

This would involve getting inbound links to your page (s) from other sites.

Depending on the keyword/phrases it might be possible that we could do the project with off page optimisation alone. If we can then we may never have to access your site.

That normally depends on the keywords/phrases though.

If the chosen keywords have low to medium competition we might be able to achieve the ranking just with off page optimization however if they have a very high competition threshold then we would probably have to access your site to do some on page optimisation.

Pricing.

Pricing really depends on the keywords/phrases that we agree to do for you.

If the keywords/phrases are of medium competition value then we can generally optimise your site as per the prices quoted on our website

For more competitive keywords/phrases we will need to come to an arrangement with you.

Very competitive keywords/keyphrases can be pretty hard to achieve.

We would advise you if we thought they were possible and give you a quotation.

The contract period for these packages are 12 months.

The reason we have to say that is because it is virtually impossible to get a site naturally ranked in a month or two using Basic SEO tactics. We have to allow 6 months to actually achieve the rankings and then we have to ensure that we can keep the rankings there.

Our guarantee kicks in in 6 months. Basically we will achieve the rankings in 6 months. Then we will keep them there and hopefully make them better for the next 6 months.

If we don't manage to get them ranked in 6 months then we will work on for free each month until we do make the rankings. If after 12 months we still have not achieved the rankings we will give you your money back.

We are able to offer that guarantee because we are pretty confident that we will achieve the rankings.

Search Engines

Most people of course want to be ranked on google.

Our guarantee is that we will get rankings for you in the top 15 positions over the major search engines that matter. We will not guarantee that we will get all these rankings on google.

It is our experience though that they will be achieved on google too. Google rankings usually come a little bit slower than the rest of the search engines.

We will give you a report each month to show you how the work is doing and how the keywords/keyphrases are performing.

I hope I have managed to explain a little on how to achieve top rankings and hope I have managed to go a little way to explain our service in this little report.

If you would like to ask any questions please contact us and we will do our very best to answer them for you.
